The Apostle of Tennessee: The Indefatigable Life and Ministry of Father Aloysius Orengo will be published by Vanderbilt University Press on August 19, 2026. The book, part of VUP’s Truth, Lies and Histories of Nashville series, tells the story of Fr. Aloysius “Luigi/Louis” Orengo, O.P., an Italian immigrant and Dominican missionary priest who served Middle and West Tennessee for 25 years from 1848-1873. The book can be preordered at Vanderbilt University Press, Parnassus Books and other bookstores. There will several readings and events following the book’s release. I hope to see you there!
